Southwest Parkway Receives Funding in Transportation Budget

Nearly $4.5 million was designated for Warren County’s Southwest Parkway in this year’s state budget. The Parkway was designed to connect Russellville Road and Nashville Road. This first phase of the project will connect Russellville Road to the northwest corner of the South Central Kentucky Industrial Park in southern Warren County.

Currently, all companies in the SCKIP employ a combined 3,400+ people, which accounts for approximately $204.5 million in payroll income each year and has a projected $13.3 billion economic impact on our local economy over the next 10 years. Job creation in the SCKIP is projected to increase by 40% over the next five years and with future development projections of the park, tractor-trailer truck traffic is expected to increase by upwards of 34%. View the two-page data summary and proposed project route here.

The completion of the Parkway will improve traffic flow and access for all companies in and around the SCKIP by creating additional entry points along Nashville and Russellville Roads. The Parkway will also open secondary access to the northwest corner of the park. This new access will increase traffic efficiency and address evacuation/safety concerns for KAAP, KPEX, Henkel, Graham Packaging and any future developments in the northern part of the park.

For additional information on the Southwest Parkway project, contact Chamber Real Estate and Research Coordinator Amanda Bentley.
